CPC Politburo Standing Committee
committee consisting of the top leadership of the Chinese Communist Party
The Communist Party of China (CPC) Politburo Standing Committee is CPC's most powerful decision-making body. It is elected by the CPC Central Committee. It normally consists of 5 ~ 9 people. Currently (2018) 7 (Xi Jinping, Li Keqiang, Li Zhanshu, Wang Yang, Wang Huning, Zhao Leji, Han Zheng). Since CPC is the ruling party in China by constitution, the Politburo Standing Committee is also the leadership group of China. Xi Jinping and Li Keqiang were elected in 2007 as successors to Hu Jingtao and Wen Jiabao. The other 5 were elected in 2017.[1]
