건전지는 모양, 크기, 용도가 매우 다양하다. 이렇게 여러 종류의 건전지를 집에 보관하면 필요할 때 크게 도움이 된다. 또한 적절하게 보관하면 건전지 수명을 늘리고 안전상의 위험을 방지할 수 있으며 급할 때 쉽게 찾을 수 있다.

- 동전이나 그 밖의 금속물체를 건전지와 함께 담아 두지 말자.
- 건전지의 양극 단자가 다른 건전지의 음극 단자와 접촉되지 않도록 정렬하자.

- 충전되지 않은 충전지 회복시키기. 충전지가 며칠 동안 충전이 거의 되지 않은 상태였다면 다시 사용하기 전에 특별 처리를 해야한다:납 축전지

- 자주 사용하지 않는 전자제품은 건전지를 빼놓자. 전자기기에 끼워져 있으면 따로 보관할 때보다 훨씬 빠르게 방전되기 때문이다.
