Census 2010 explicitly counted Thais and those with legal permanent residency status where they resided during the count. This Census however failed to count long stay migrants and expats without legal permanent resident status, of which is estimated between "at least 2 million"^[1] to "no less than 3 million"^[2] nationwide. Therefore, Greater بینکاک's actual population easily surpassed 15 million by 2010 census, and was possibly as high as 16 million. Department of Provincial Affairs th:กรมการปกครอง Grommágaan Bpòkkrong registers Thai population. Millions live in بینکاک Region with upcountry registration, expats, migrants, those in refugee camps, and "native" ethnic tribes without Thai nationality not registered. Total registered population 64,076,033 some 1.4 million less than Census population a year earlier.^[3] تھائی لینڈ is still (as of 2013) trying to officially register migrant workers.^[4] As of post coup 2014, تھائی لینڈ's Department of Employment released figures that 408,507 legal workers from 3 neighboring states, and 1,630,279 Burmese, 40,546 Laotian, and 153,683 Cambodians without legal work authorization working and residing in تھائی لینڈ۔^[5] Nevertheless, some 180,000 Cambodians were said to have left تھائی لینڈ post coup due to rumors, indicating government figures were an undercount.^[6]
