Yuri Bondarev
Soviet and Russian writer, screenwriter
Yuri Vasilyevich Bondarev (Russian: Ю́рий Васи́льевич Бо́ндарев, 15 March 1924 – 29 March 2020) was a Soviet-born Russian novelist, essayist, and screenwriter. He was born in Orsk, Soviet Union. His best known novels were novels The Battalions Request Fire (1957) and The Last Salvoes (1959). He was best known for writing the scripts of the Liberation movie series (1968–71). He was twice honored with the Order of Lenin.
Bondarev died on 29 March 2020 in Moscow at the age of 96.[1]
