Il Pro12 2015-16 fu la 6ª edizione della competizione transnazionale di rugby a 15 per club delle federazioni gallese, irlandese, italiana e scozzese, la 5ª con tale nome nonché la 15ª assoluta includendo le edizioni senza i club della federazione italiana.

Cronologia della competizione

Si tenne dal 4 settembre 2015 al 28 maggio 2016 tra 12 squadre che si incontrarono nella stagione regolare con la formula a girone unico per selezionare le quattro che affrontarono i play-off.

Il torneo fu noto con il nome commerciale di Guinness Pro12 per via della sponsorizzazione garantita da Diageo, la multinazionale britannica proprietaria del marchio di birra Guinness, a seguito di un accordo stipulato nel 2014[1].

Dopo la prima volta del Glasgow Warriors l'anno precedente[2], fu la volta di un'ennesima esordiente a iscrivere il proprio nome nell'albo d'oro della competizione: Connacht, considerata storicamente la più debole delle quattro province irlandesi[3] e sfavorita nella finale che la opponeva alla più quotata connazionale Leinster[3], la batté invece 20-10 e vinse il suo primo titolo del Pro12[3].

Il valore delle marcature, come stabilito dall’IRFB nel 1992, era: 5 punti per ciascuna meta (7 se trasformata), 3 punti per la realizzazione di ciascun calcio piazzato, idem per il drop[4].
