海啸是指由海底地震、火山爆发、海底滑坡或气象变化产生的破坏性海浪。[1] 海啸还有个别称叫“潮汐波”,但这是误称。潮汐现象是指海水在天体(主要是月亮和太阳)引潮力作用下所产生的周期性运动,尽管海啸对临海地带的影响和海啸发生时的潮水高度有关,但海啸的产生和潮汐无关。另一个别称“地震海波”也是误导,因为海啸不一定是由海底地震导致的,还可能由海底滑坡或气象变化等非地震因素导致。近年来,海啸给人类社会造成了巨大的损失,因此学习如何在海啸中逃生很有必要。想在海啸中逃生,必须事先做充分准备并保持警觉和冷静。
步骤
- 评估危险度。首先评估你所在地区的海啸发生概率,以下情况表明风险较高:
- 你生活在沿海地区。
- 你所在地区海拔很低。如果你不知道该地区的海拔高度,一定要查询出来,因为海拔经常被用作预警指标。
- 有海啸发生的预兆。
- 当地政府发表海啸预警声明。
- 天然的防御堤坝在当地开发中被移除。

- 早做准备。如果调查表明你所在地区遭受海啸的几率较高,提前制定撤离方案并准备救生包。
- 装备救生包。食物、水、急救箱是必需品。救生包应放在显眼处,便于紧急情况下获取。 救生包旁边还可置备雨衣。
- 除家庭救生包以外,为家中的每个人(甚至宠物)装备个人救生包,备好应急药品。
- 制定撤离方案。制定撤离方案需要考虑到家庭,公司,学校和整个社区。如果政府尚无作为,还需制定集体撤离方案。主动向当地政府、居民提议,向他们说明没有撤离方案会把所有人置于伤亡的风险中。 [4] 制定撤离方案需要考虑:
- 与家人同事商量撤离方案。约定失散后的集合点。[5]
- 撤离演习,让家中和社区中每个人明确撤离步骤,明确向哪里撤离。
- 考虑到如何统计人数;考虑如何帮助伤残人士撤离。
- 让每个人认识撤离标识,可通过分发手册或举办演讲的方式。参照海啸警示条目。
- 策划多种逃生路线,以防海啸伴随的地震阻断某些路线。
- 寻找避难基地。如果没有找到,需要提前建造。

- 留意自然迹象。预示海啸的自然景象有:
- 地震。若生活在沿海地带,一旦发生地震须立即撤离。
- 海面起伏不定。海水突然退潮预示海啸即将到来。
- 动物行为异常。海啸发生前动物们会骚动起来寻找避难所。 [6]
- 留意政府警报,通过一切手段迅速传播海啸预警信息。广告
- 抛弃财物。在海啸中顾及不必要的物品会消耗你的逃生时间。应带着救生包和防寒衣物立刻撤离。
- 如果你还未撤离就陷入海啸中,你还能做的事:
- 抓住漂浮的东西,比如树干、门等任何能在水中抓住的东西,以保持自己浮在水面上。 [11]

- 边撤离边警告路人。逃生的时间非常有限。
- 在海岸看到异常退潮现象,立刻撤离。这不是个做新闻的时机,逃命要紧。
- 在海啸中很可能离散,事先要给孩子们明确的独自逃生指示。

- 一旦听到警报就撤离,即使弄错也比丢命好。逃生中不要冲到水里捡任何东西。
- 撤离到高地,直到政府完全解除警报才可返回。
