If you need to access files that are stored on your desktop computer from your laptop (or vice-versa), you can set up file sharing between the two computers to make file transfers simple. The Best Way to Connect a Desktop to a Laptop

Connect 2 computers with an ethernet cable. Simply plug one end of the cable into one computer and the other end into the other computer. This will give you access to files from each device.
