Tagalog Republic
two separate revolutionary governments in the history of the Philippines
There were two governments called the Tagalog Republic (Filipino: Republika ng Katagalugan, which means "Republic of the Tagalog Nation/People"; Spanish: República Tagala). Filipino people made these governments when the Philippines was a colony of Spain, and when it was a colony of the United States. They fought against the Spanish Empire and in the Philippine–American War. Both governments were connected to the Katipunan movement, which wanted the Philippines to be a free country.
