Adam Weishaupt
German philosopher and founder of the Illuminati (1748–1830)
Johann Adam Weishaupt (6th February 1748-18th November 1830) was a German philosopher influenced by the ideas of the Age of Enlightenment. During his life, he was also influenced by the ideas of Liberalism. He was a Freemason, and liked the ideas of Deism and Republicanism. He also started the short-lived secret society called Illuminati.
Weishaupt studied history, law, political science and philosophy in Ingolstadt, In 1768, he got his Doctorate in philosophy. In 1772 he became a professor for law, with a specialization in church law.
