Saudi-owned Al Arabiya and The Washington Free Beacon (which had quoted the translation of Larijani's words from Al Arabiya) reported that on June 8th, 2018, Iranian official Mohammad-Javad Larijani allegedly admitted Iran's involvement in the 9/11 attacks. They reported that Mohammad-Javad Larijani, the international affairs assistant in the Judicial system of Iran, declared that Iranian officials and agents decided not to stamp some perpetrators' passports when they crossed Iran's border and that he confessed that Iran assisted the al-Qaeda terrorists, including, among other things, keeping the terrorists in permanent contact with Iran’s intelligence ministry, and facilitating their flights to Afghanistan and the US.[۱][۲] The New Arab website criticized and denied the report and stated that it was false. According to The New Arab (Al-Araby Al-Jadeed), Larijani was, in fact, mentioning an American report on 9/11 and what the authors of the report had initially accused Iran of doing. This news website wrote "Larijani was, in fact, detailing the accusations against Iran presented in the Commission Report - and stressed the commission had concluded the Islamic Republic had no involvement in the attack".[۳]
