It saddens me that I come back to the Wikipedia community (of all places) to find that you have departed this world; I'm a fool for not knowing the news until so late! I will truly miss you devil dog, I've always had a special place for you in my heart and it brings me to tears that a good brother of mine is gone, even though I may have been a little hard! I'll never forget your ongoing advice you have given me on occasion. Although you will never be there again to help me out on it. In remembrance of you and your dedication, my project "Definitive History of the Marine Corps" will still continue, my brother (once I'm free from my own burdens), for your generous efforts you have afforded me....
There are many battles that we Marines have fought thousands of miles away, we may win them against our foes and adversaries; but the most toughest battles that we don't win is the battles of the horrid memories we take home with us in the aftermath. We should not be afraid to mention that Robert took his own life. In the last update to his user page, in April, he disclosed that he was having a difficult time with PTSD, after two deployments to Iraq in five years. To die in battle is not necessarily to die on the battlefield. He gave his life in service of his country, there is no higher sacrifice. I knew he was still fighting PTSD, so I easily guessed the method of his passing. Too many of our soldiers hold the pain inside until something breaks.
