Posthumous name

edit

The Emperor/King Taejo of Goryeo's posthumous name (시호; 諡號) is Sinseong (Hanja: 神聖, Hangul in Modern Korean: 신성, McCune-Reischauer (M-R, Original): Sinsŏng, Modified M-R (South Korea, 1984): Shinsŏng).

"본관 개성(開城), 자 약천(若天), 성 왕(), 휘 건(), 시호 신성(神聖)이다." from 두산세계대백과([1])
Translation: (The Emperor/King Taejo of Goryeo's) Ancestral home (Korean: 본관(本貫)) is Gaeseong, (his) courtesy name is Yakcheon, (his) family name is Wang, (his) given name is Geon, and (his) posthumous name is Sinseong. --yes0song 13:22, 31 May 2006 (UTC)

Have changed the name to "Wang Gun." Oyo321 05:43, 15 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

This is not an acceptable title, for reasons ranging from romanization to the standardized use of temple names. Please see Wikipedia:Naming conventions (Korean) and Wikipedia:Naming conventions (monarchs). -- Visviva 06:26, 15 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

undivided?

edit

"However, Wang's unification in 936 was a full-scale unification, with the agreement of all Korean people—and the nation remained as single, unified country until 1948, when Korea was divided into North and South." For an encyclopedia this sounds a little emotional and arguable : for a large part of this period Korea was occupied by Japan and the division of Korea occurred de facto in 1945. 86.33.15.82 (talk) 21:25, 11 May 2009 (UTC)Reply
