Who destroyed Ruyton Castle in 1202?
editThis article states the Castle was destroyed by the Welsh in 1202. However, the well researched local history book by Yoland Brown, Ruyton XI Towns, Unusual Name, Unusual History (1988) states that it was razed by Fulk FitzWarin, the dispossessed Lord of Whittington, in that year as part of his rebellion against King John.. FitzWarin's wikipedia article does not indicate how much Welsh backing he had. I am inclined to change this in light of the information but I would like to give others chance to come forward with information in support of Welsh involvement. In the meantime I have raised a citation need against the 'Welsh did it' statement.Cloptonson (talk) 18:57, 7 October 2021 (UTC)
