A fresh acid stain should be removed using water as quickly as possible to avoid damage of the stainless steel. For stains that have been on the steel for more time, an easy and mild method for stain removal to start with is to mix equal parts baking soda and liquid dish soap in a bowl to create a paste. Use a clean towel or rag, and apply the paste to your stain and scrub untill the stain has been removed.
