เปิด Command prompt. ปกติทำได้โดยพิมพ์ “command” ในแถบค้นหา แล้วเลือกผลการค้นหาที่โผล่มา
พิมพ์ชื่อไฟล์ที่ต้องการ. ตอนอยู่ในเมนู command prompt คุณดูไฟล์ในคอมแบบ text-only (มีแต่ข้อความ) ได้ โดยพิมพ์ตำแหน่งของไฟล์ (ปกติจะเป็นไดรฟ์) และชื่อไฟล์ (กับนามสกุลไฟล์)
พิมพ์. cd.. ใน prompt. พอกด Enter เท่ากับใช้คำสั่งให้โปรแกรมย้อนกลับไปยังโฟลเดอร์ก่อนหน้า- สำคัญว่าต้องพิมพ์ 2 จุด เพราะถ้าพิมพ์แค่ “cd” ใน prompt จะไม่ไปไหน
พิมพ์ cd\ ใน prompt เพื่อย้อนกลับไปที่ directory. ถ้าจะย้อนจากตำแหน่งนั้น กลับไปที่หน้าหลักของ command prompt ใช้คำสั่งนี้แล้วจะย้อนกลับไปทันทีโฆษณา
