How to Work with Video on Clips App on iPhone or iPad

This How.com.vn teaches you how to create and edit your own video projects with Clips on an iPhone or iPad.

Method 1

Open Clips on your iPhone or iPad. It’s the white icon containing a blueish circle with a white video camera inside. You should find it on the home screen.
- If you don’t have Clips installed, download it from the App Store.
It’s at the top-left corner.
To create a new project, tap + at the top-left corner. If you’ve already created a project, select it, and then tap Open.^{[1]XResearch source}
If you want to switch the camera to the front/selfie camera, tap the camera with two curved arrows at the top of the screen.
If you want to add color or lighting effects as you record, tap the rainbow star near the bottom-right corner, select an effect, and then tap the x.^{[2]XResearch source}

Tap and hold the pink oval to record. As long as you hold the button down, you’ll be recording video. Once you lift your finger, the new video will appear in the timeline at the bottom of the screen.
- If you don’t want to have to hold the button the whole time, swipe up on the button to lock it into place.
- If you lock the record button in place, tap the stop button when you’re finished recording.
If you’ve added more clips to your timeline, this button will play all clips in the timeline.

- Use this method if you want the words you speak to appear on the screen.
Tap the folder icon at the top-left corner of the screen, then tap the project.

A preview will appear.

Record yourself speaking. As you speak, the words will appear on the screen in the selected animation style.
- Adjust the speed of your speech to control how fast or slow the text appears.
- When you’re finished recording, lift your finger (or tap the stop button if you locked the record button into place).

Edit the Live Title.
- To edit the text, tap the clip, tap Live Titles (the first icon in the row of icons), then edit the text on the Text tab.
- To switch the animation style, select the clip, tap Live Titles, tap the Style tab, then choose a different style.
- If you’re not happy with the outcome, tap the trash icon to delete the clip.

- Use this method to insert videos or photos from your iPhone or iPad into an existing Clips project.
- Think of inserting a photo or video as ″recording″ the photo or video for a certain duration. You’ll basically be recording the photo or video for however long you want it to appear on the screen in your project.
To do so, tap the folder icon at the top-left corner of the screen, then tap the project.

Press and hold the record button to add the photo or video. It’s the large pink oval below the preview. As long as you hold the button down, the photo or video will continue to appear/play in the project.^{[4]XResearch source}
- To pan around a photo as you’re recording it, lock the record button into place by dragging it up, and then pinch and drag the photo to move it around.
If you locked the record button into place, tap the stop button below the photo or video to end the recording.
You can add one of the built-in effects to your clip if you wish. To do so, tap the clip to select it, tap Effects (the rainbow star), tap the desired effect, and then tap the X.

To do so, tap the folder icon at the top-left corner of the screen, then tap the project.
A row of icons will appear below the preview.
It’s the scissors icon.
It's the yellow bar with a black arrow in the timeline at the bottom of the screen. The length will update in real time below the preview as you drag, highlighting the part of the clip that will play in yellow.

Drag the left slider to the place the clip should begin. The idea is to have only the amount of time you want the photo or video clip in the yellow highlighted area.
- The clip starts at the beginning by default so you may not have to make any changes.

Tap Soundtracks. This displays a list of the musical soundtracks that come with the Clips app. The soundtracks are organized by mood, such as ″Sentimental″ and ″Playful.″
- If you prefer to add a song from your music library, tap My Music, select a song, and then tap Apply.
Soundtracks that need to be downloaded have a cloud icon on the right. Tapping one of these options will download the soundtrack. You’ll have to tap it a second time to select it.
This brings you back to the project screen, where the soundtrack is now added.

Tap the play button. This plays your video with its new soundtrack.
- If you’re not satisfied, tap Soundtracks, choose another option, and then tap the back button.
Your soundtrack is now inserted into your video project.

To do so, tap the folder icon at the top-left corner of the screen, then tap the project.

It’s at the bottom-left corner of the sharing menu. The video will save to your iPhone or iPad. When it’s finished saving, a pop-up will appear.

Tap OK on the pop-up.
- To share the video, tap the sharing icon again, and then select the app you want to share with.
