Container ships play a vital role in global commerce, helping companies move cargo on major waterways throughout the world. Be physically fit. Jobs on container ships are extremely physically demanding, so you must be prepared to be on your feet for long hours, lift and carry heavy items, and perform various other physical tasks, depending on the kind of job you accept.

Apply for a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC).
