It is something Allah (god) commanded from women. It depends on you if you will follow the command. The purpose is that you hide your beauty from the gaze of men. if you want to wear it, make sure that you are not doing this because someone wants you to, but because you are trying to please Allah -- not anyone else. If you do wear it ,start with a more modest wardrobe (if it isn't already), then hijab, and then niqab if you want to go the extra mile.
