How to Use Touch ID for Locked Notes on an iPhone

This How.com.vn teaches you how to enable and use your Touch ID to open locked notes in your iPhone's Notes app.

Steps

  1. How.com.vn English: Step 1 Open your iPhone's Settings.
This is the grey gear icon on home screen.
  2. How.com.vn English: Step 2 Scroll down and tap Notes.
It's in the fifth group of options on this page.
  3. How.com.vn English: Step 3 Select Password.
This is the fifth option from the top of the screen in the "Notes" menu.
    • If you haven't created a password for your Notes yet, you'll need to fill out the Password, Verify (type your password again), and Hint fields listed here to continue.
  4. Step 4 Slide the Use Touch ID switch right to the "On" position.
It will turn green. If this option is greyed out, you'll need to set up your Touch ID first.
    • This option is at the top of the Password screen.

  6. How.com.vn English: Step 6 Tap OK.
Now your password-protected notes will be accessible with Touch ID rather than a typed password.

      Tips

      • You can still use a password to access your locked notes if your Touch ID fingertip won't work with your Touch ID sensor (e.g., it's wet or burnt).
      • If you can't find the Settings app listed anywhere on one of your iPhone's home screens, it may be in a folder on one of your home screens.
