Getting Started

   Open the Kindle app on your iPhone or iPad. The Kindle icon looks like a person sitting on a hill, and reading a book.

   Sign in to your Amazon account. Enter your email or phone and password, and click Sign in.

   Click LET'S GET STARTED. This will help you customize your account to get personalized recommendations.

   • This is an optional step. If you don't want to do it, tap NO, THANK YOU.

   Select some genres you like. Selected genres will be highlighted with white here.

   • Tap Next on the top-right to confirm.

   Rate some books in your selected genres. Tap the stars below a book to give it a personal rating, or select Want to Read to add it to your reading list.

   • Tap Next on the top-right to finish rating.

   Check out your personalized suggestions. If you see a book you want to read a sample from, tap on it to put a checkmark next to the book, and download a sample.

   Tap Done on the top-right. This will take you to your library.

Reading an Ebook

   Tap the LIBRARY tab at the bottom. This button looks like a book icon. It will open a list of all the books you've purchased on Kindle.

   • If you want to check out what's popular with other readers, tap the Community tab here.

   Use the search bar at the top. Tap the search field, and enter any keywords to quickly search for a book in your library.

   • You can use the up and down arrows near the upper-right to open filter options.

   Tap on a book to download it to your library. If the book is not downloaded to your device, you won't see a checkmark on the corner of the book cover. Tap on the book cover to begin downloading.

   Tap an ebook to begin reading it. This will open the ebook in reader mode.

   Tap on the book page. This will reveal your options and buttons around the screen.

   Tap the Aa button at the top. This will open your reading options on a pop-up panel.

   Adjust your reading options on the pop-up panel. You can change your background color, font, text size, line spacing, and text alignment here.

   Tap the bookmark icon on the top-right. This will fill the icon, and bookmark the selected page.

   • Your page is automatically saved when you quit the app, but in case you want to skim through and come back, it’s best to use a bookmark so you won’t forget where you left off.
