How to Use Episode: Choose Your Story App on Android

Creating an Account

Open Episode on your Android. It’s the icon of two comic characters that’s usually on the home screen or in the app drawer.
- If you haven’t downloaded the app, download it now from the Play Store.
- If it’s your first time opening the app, follow the on-screen instructions to move through the welcome screens.
If you see a screen asking you to sign into an account (or create a new one), skip to the next step. If not, tap the ≡ menu at the top-left corner, select Settings, and then tap Log in (under ″Account″).

Select a sign-in method. If you want to log in with a Gmail account, select Sign in with Google. To sign in using Facebook, select Sign in with Facebook.
- You may have to tap a check box to accept the user agreement to continue.
Select your Google or Facebook account if prompted to do so, and then follow the prompts to allow Episode to access your account.
This is the name that will be associated with you on the app.

Answer the profile questions. Episode will attempt to create your profile and help you find people to follow based on your answers.
- If you want to skip any of the questions, tap Skip.
Begin by selecting your gender, and then create a character that represents you in Episode.

Select some users to follow and tap Done. You have to follow at least one user.
- If you know the username of someone you want to follow, type it into the search bar at the top, and then tap the add icon (a person with a +).
- To follow one of the suggested users, tap the add icon (a person with a +) next to their name.

Reading Stories

It’s the icon of two comic characters that’s usually on the home screen or in the app drawer.

Browse for a story. There are many ways to do this:
- Scroll down on the main page to see a list of featured categories, and then swipe left across a category to see what’s available.
- Tap the magnifying glass at the top-right corner to to search for a story title, subject, or author.
- Tap ≡ and select Genres to browse by genre.
- Tap ≡ and select User Stories to view either Stories We Love or Contest Winners.

Tap a story to open it. This displays a brief description of the story and the number of episodes. You can also find the following information:
- Some stories will reward you with Gems, which are in-game currency, after finishing a chapter.^{[1]XResearch source} If this story awards Gems, you’ll see a blue tag that says ″EARN GEMS″ on the description.
- Tap the bookmark icon to add the story to your favorites.
- Tap ⋯ to open the story menu. In this menu, you can view the author’s profile, send them Fanmail, share the story, enable or disable animations, and add/remove the story to/from your Favorites list.
The first chapter will appear.
Any time you want to move forward in the story, just tap the screen.

Answer questions in the story. Sometimes you’ll be asked to input some information (such as your name) or make certain decisions to make the story more interactive.
- Some of the questions may ask you to spend Gems. The amount of Gems you have will appear at the top-right corner when prompted to make a purchase.
- If you don’t have any Gems but want to use them, buy a Gem package. Tap the Gem at the top-right corner to open the store, then tap the package you want to purchase. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete your purchase through the Play Store.

Tap ⋯ to access the in-story menu. It’s at the bottom-right corner of the screen. You can do any of the following from this menu:
- Share the story with others.
- Replay the story from the beginning (you can do this up to 5 times per story).^{[2]XResearch source}
- Disable or enable animations.

Tap through the story until you finish the chapter. After the last scene in the current chapter, you’ll be redirected to the description screen for the next chapter.
- If you want to stop watching early, tap the exit icon (the arrow at the top-left corner) to return to the home screen.
