How to Use Documents by Readdle on iPhone or iPad

This How.com.vn teaches you how to get started with Documents, a free file manager and viewer by Readdle, on an iPhone or iPad. You can use Documents to manage files on device and/or a cloud server, open most popular file types, save websites as PDF files, and much more.

Managing Files on your iPhone or iPad

    It’s the gray ″D″ icon with yellow and green accents. You’ll usually find it on the home screen.
    • If you haven’t yet installed Documents by Readdle, you can download it now for free from the App Store.[1]
    • Use this method to manage the files saved to your iPhone or iPad. To use Documents to manage files on a cloud server, including moving files between your phone/tablet and the server, see Managing Files on a Cloud Server.
  2. How.com.vn English: Step 2 Tap a folder to see what’s inside.
    If it’s your first time using Documents to open a folder, you may have to give the app permission to access your files.

    Documents can open many types of files, including photos, PDFs, music, and videos.[2]

Managing Files on a Cloud Server

    • Use this method if you want to easily access and manage files on your cloud accounts (e.g., Dropbox, Google Drive, your company server, etc) in Documents.
    • If you’re using iCloud, make sure iCloud Drive is enabled. Since your iCloud folder will appear in Documents as a regular folder, you can manage those files just as you would any other folder on your phone or tablet.

    It’s the two overlapping clouds at the bottom of the screen.

    A list of account types will appear.

    Once you’re signed in, you’ll be able to access the files you store on that server.

    • Tap Services at the bottom and select the server.

    • Tap the three dots at the top-right corner.

    If you’d like to upload a file from your phone or tablet to the cloud, here’s how:

Saving a Website as a PDF

    • If you haven’t yet installed Documents by Readdle, you can download it now for free from the App Store.
  2. How.com.vn English: Step 2 Tap the blue compass icon.
    It's at the bottom-right corner. This opens the internal web browser.
  3. How.com.vn English: Step 3 Navigate to the website you want to save.
    To do so, type the URL into the address bar and tap the Go key.
    • If you need to search for a sight, type your search term(s) into the bar, tap Go, and then tap the site in the search results.
  4. How.com.vn English: Step 4 Tap the Sharing icon icon.
    It’s at the top of the screen on an iPad, and the bottom on an iPhone.[5]

    It’s in the bottom row of icons on the menu. You may have to scroll to the right to see it.

    The website is now saved as a PDF. You’ll find it in a folder called Downloads inside of Documents.
