Installing Beep

   Type beep into the search bar. It's at the top of the screen.

   Tap the Search key. It's at the bottom-right corner of the keyboard.

   Tap GET next to Beep – Friends Messenger. It's icon is a purple square with a blue gummy bear outline inside.

   Enter your passcode or use Touch ID to download. This starts the download.

   • If you're not signed in to the App Store, you'll be prompted to sign in now.
   • Once the download is complete, the ″GET″ button will change to ″OPEN.″

Method 2

Setting Up Beep

   Open Beep. It's the purple icon with a blue gummy bear outline inside.

   • If you're still in the App Store, you can launch the app by tapping OPEN.

   Tap anywhere on the screen to decline the download. This brings you to a screen that looks like an ongoing chat.

   Tap TAP TO START. It's at the bottom of the screen. You'll hear an audio welcome message.

   Tap TAP TO CONTINUE. Another brief welcome message will play and you may also see a welcome image.

   Tap Tap to enter Phone #. It's at the bottom of the screen.

   Enter your phone number and tap Next. Beep will now send you a code via SMS that you must enter on the next screen.

   Enter the code and tap Continue. Once your code is verified, you'll return to the chat screen.

   Tap upload photo. It's the camera icon near the bottom of the screen.

   • If you don't want to upload a profile photo, tap skip beneath the camera.

   Tap camera roll. This opens a list of photos on your iPhone or iPad.

   • If you'd rather take a new photo now, select selfie instead, then follow the on-screen instructions to take your photo.

    Tap the photo you want to use. This opens it in the cropping editor.

    Align the photo in the box and tap Choose. Your profile photo is now added.

    • Not all of these contacts use Beep.

    Select best friends or tap skip. If you want to select 3 people as favorite contacts, tap the bubbles to the right of their name. If not, select skip at the top-right corner.

    Allow or deny notifications from Beep. If you want to be notified when you receive a new message, select Allow on the next pop-up. If not, select Don't Allow.

Adding Friends

   Tap the contacts icon. It's the two overlapping people at the top-right corner of the screen.

   Tap add friends. A list of your contacts will appear.

   Tap invite to add a contact. This sends an invitation to the selected friend, prompting them to add you. If they don't already have Beep, they'll be prompted to download it now.

Creating a Beep Message

   Tap the + button. It's in a purple circle at the bottom-center part of the screen. Since it's your first time using Beep, you'll be prompted to give the app permission to use your camera.

   Tap and hold +. Two icons will appear above your finger.

   Drag your finger to the camera. The camera screen will appear.

   Select a photo or take a new one.

   • To take a new picture, tap the shutter button at the bottom-center part of the viewfinder.
   • To select an existing photo, scroll across the options at the bottom of the screen, then tap the photo you want to use.

   Tap and hold the microphone icon to record audio. Continue holding this icon until you're finished recording (or until the counter reaches 15 seconds).

   Tap the play button to hear a preview. It's the sideways triangle at the top-left corner of the screen.

   • You can add additional sounds to the message by selecting one of the options on the screen.
   • You'll be able to install sound packs, which are groups of sounds that can be added to your messages. Though some are free, some are only available to ″vip″ users who rate the app 5 stars.

   Tap the check mark to accept the recording. This returns you to a preview of the message.

   Edit the message (optional). Beep comes with various options for perfecting your message. Tap the icons at the bottom of the screen to view and select additional features.

   • Tap the music note icon to return to the audio editing screen. This allows you to select sound bytes or adjust your own audio recording.
   • Tap GIF to select a GIF sticker to add to your message.
   • Tap the emoji icon to add a sound emoji. These are like regular emoji but with sound effects.
   • Tap the timer icon to change the speed of the audio recording. The higher the number, the faster the speed.
   • Tap the crop icon (the square at the bottom-right corner) to trim the audio.
   • Tap the play button at any time to see and hear a preview.

    Tap next. It's the purple link near the bottom-right corner of the screen.

    Tap the magnifying glass icon. This opens your Beep contacts.

    Select a recipient. Tap the bubble next to a contact's name to add them to the recipient list. You can add more than one recipient if you'd like.

Viewing Your Messages

Downloading Sound Packs

   • To view the packs you already have, tap my packs near the top of the screen.

   Find a pack to install. To search for a pack by topic or keyword, tap the search bar at the top of the screen, then start typing your keyword. A list of results will appear as you type.

   • For example, you may type a celebrity's name to find sound recordings by that celebrity.

   Tap get on a sound pack to download it. Once the pack is installed, the ″get″ button will change to ″view.″

   • If you see a ″vip″ button instead of ″get,″ you'll be prompted to rate the app 5 stars before you can download the pack. You won't be able to download the pack unless you do this.
   • If you see a number (e.g., 10, 100), that means you'll be required to pay for that pack. The number represents Beep Coins, which are the currency used in the app. Here's how to buy a sound pack with Beep Coins:
     • Tap the button with the number to access the ″buy coins″ screen.
     • Tap the price of the pack you want to buy.
     • Follow the on-screen instructions to process your payment through the App Store. Once the payment is complete, the coins will be added to your account and you'll return to the list of sound packs.
     • Tap the purple button with the number of Beep Coins to download the pack.

   Tap view to open the pack.

   Scroll down and tap a sound. This plays the sound.

   • The sounds from this pack are now available for use in your Beep messages.
