How to Upload a File on Slack on PC or Mac

This How.com.vn teaches you how to share files on your Slack team workspace using Windows or macOS.

Steps

  1. How.com.vn English: Step 1 Open Slack.
    It's in the Applications folder on a Mac or the Windows menu on a PC.
    • You can also access Slack by visiting your team's URL in a web browser.
  2. How.com.vn English: Step 2 Click the channel where you want to share the file.
    Channels appear in the purple column along the left side of the window.
  3. How.com.vn English: Step 3 Click +.
    It's to the left of the message box at the bottom of the channel.
  4. How.com.vn English: Step 4 Click Your computer.
    If the file you want to upload is in your Google Drive instead of your computer, select that option instead.
  5. How.com.vn English: Step 5 Navigate to the file you want to upload.
  6. How.com.vn English: Step 6 Click the file.
  7. How.com.vn English: Step 7 Click Open.
    This opens the “Upload a file?” window.
    • If you selected a file from your Google Drive, click Select instead—this will upload the file immediately.
  8. How.com.vn English: Step 8 Type a name and comment.
    Adding a comment is optional, but you can use that blank to type some information about the file.
  9. How.com.vn English: Step 9 Select an option from the “Share with” drop-down menu.
    The option you select determines who will have access to the file. Select a specific channel or user, or select your own name to keep it private.
  10. How.com.vn English: Step 10 Click Upload.
    The file will now upload to Slack.
