Are you trying to find a Red Snapper in Stardew Valley? This fish can be somewhat elusive due to the fact that you can only find it in the ocean during a rainy day in the Summer and Fall (or Winter, if you use a Rain Totem). However, Red Snappers aren't particularly hard to find once you do get a rainy day. Keep reading to learn how to catch a Red Snapper and everything you can use them for in Stardew Valley.

Catching Red Snapper in Stardew Valley

To catch a Red Snapper, go fishing on the Beach between 6am and 7pm on a rainy day in the Summer or Fall. If you have a Rain Totem, you can also catch them in Winter, and if you have a Beach Farm, you can catch them right on your farm.

Wait until rainy days in Summer or Fall. Red Snappers can be caught in the Spring or Fall during rainy days. You can also catch Red Snappers during the Winter if you use a Rain Totem. There are a few exceptions to this, however, though they require game progression or gold:^{[1]XResearch source}
- If you have access to Qi's Walnut Room, you can buy Magic Bait that allows you to catch any fish regardless of the weather, time, or season. You can purchase Magic Bait for 5 Qi Gems, as well as the recipe for Magic Bait for 20 Qi Gems.^{[2]XResearch source}
- Red Snappers can randomly (and rarely) be found in Garbage Cans during Summer, Fall and Winter.
- You can also sometimes find Red Snappers for sale in the Traveling Cart for 100 to 1,000 gold.
Red Snappers can also be found on the Beach Farm, if you selected that farm layout.

Go fishing. Red Snappers are a relatively common fish, so you shouldn't have too much trouble catching one. The hardest part of catching a Red Snapper is waiting for a rainy day.

Three recipes can be made with Red Snapper. However, these recipes do not require Red Snapper specifically, so you can technically use any fish to make them. The recipes you can use Red Snapper in are as follows:^{[4]XResearch source}
- Maki Roll: 1 Fish (any), 1 Seaweed, 1 Rice
- Quality Fertilizer: 1 Fish (any), 2 Sap
- Sashimi: 1 Fish (any)
Red Snapper is one of the fish you must submit for the Ocean Fish Community Center Bundle in the Fish Tank.^{[5]XResearch source}

Red Snappers are used in two quests at the Help Wanted board. The first quest is an item delivery quest that you can find during Summer, Fall, or Winter, and to complete the quest you must deliver one Red Snapper. - Willy or Demetrius may also request one to four Red Snappers during the Summer or Fall at the Help Wanted board. You will get 50 gold per fish, and you can keep the fish after turning in the quest.
You can initially place 3 Red Snappers in your Fish Pond, but if you complete three quests you can store up to 10. Red Snappers will reproduce every 2 days. You can use Red Snapper as a gift. While it's not an ideal use of the fish, you can give Red Snapper as a gift to Demetrius, Elliot, Leo, Linus, Pam, Sebastian, and Willy, who will all have a neutral reaction to receiving this gift.
- All other villagers dislike or hate Red Snapper as a gift, and you should avoid giving it to them.
