This How.com.vn teaches you how to use Gmail offline on a computer. You can do this in both the new version of Gmail and the classic version, though you will need to use the Google Chrome web browser in order to do so.
Steps
Using Gmail's Offline Feature
- Open Gmail. Go to https://www.gmail.com in your computer's web browser. This will open your Gmail inbox if you're logged in.
- If you aren't logged in, enter your email address and password when prompted.
- Make sure you're using the new version of Gmail. If you see Go back to classic Gmail at the top of the drop-down menu, you're using the new Gmail interface and thus can use the built-in offline feature.
- If you see Try the new Gmail at the top of the drop-down menu, either click it and wait for the new inbox to load or use the classic Gmail Offline app.
- Click Settings. It's in the drop-down list of the gear icon menu. Doing so opens the Gmail Settings page.
- If you just switched to the new Gmail, click the gear icon again to see the Settings option.
- Click the Offline tab. You'll find this option at the top of the page.
- Check the "Enable offline mail" box. It's at the top of the "Offline" section. Checking this box prompts more options to appear on the Offline tab.
- Change your sync settings. Click the drop-down box in the "Store emails from the last [drop-down box] days" heading, then click the number of days you want to use in the resulting drop-down menu.
- For example, if you want to store all emails from the last week, you would click 7 in the drop-down menu.
- You can also uncheck the "Download attachments" box if you don't want Gmail to store attachments on your computer.
- Select a security option. Check either the "Keep offline data on my computer" box or the "Remove offline data from my computer" box in the "Security" section.
- Choosing to keep offline data on your computer after logging out from Gmail will ensure that your emails remain available whenever you're logged out of Gmail in your browser.
- Click Save Changes. It's at the bottom of the page.
- Click Got It when prompted. Doing so allows Gmail to begin storing offline copies of your emails on your computer.
- Browse your emails while offline. You can open and interact with any email which falls inside of the number of days you set for the sync period.
- You can also reply to any emails which fit within the sync window (e.g., 30 days) while offline. Your replies will be saved in the Outbox folder on the left side of Gmail; when you go back online, your replies will be sent.
