How to Send Files on Skype on Android

Attaching to a Message

  1. How.com.vn English: Step 1 Open Skype.
    It’s the blue and white icon with an “S.” You’ll usually find it on the home screen or in the app drawer.
    • As of August 2017, it’s no longer possible to send other types of files using the Android Skype app.[1] You must select either a photo or a video.

    It’s at the top-right corner of the screen.

    This opens a conversation with that contact.

Sending from your Photo Gallery

  1. How.com.vn English: Step 1 Open your phone or tablet’s photo gallery app.
    This is usually called Photos, My Photos, or Gallery.
    • As of August 2017, it’s no longer possible to send other types of files using the Android Skype app.[2] You must select either a photo or a video.
    • This steps may vary depending on your phone or tablet.

    If it’s not in the main folder, tap the name of the folder that contains the file.
    • Don’t tap the photo or video to open it, just scroll until you can see its thumbnail on the screen.

    Additional icons will appear at the top or bottom of the screen.
    • If this doesn't happen, try tapping the menu button (usually three vertical dots at the top-right corner of the screen) to bring up additional options.

    This opens a list of apps on your phone or tablet.

    It has a blue and white icon with a white “S” inside. This opens the Skype app to the “Share” screen.

    This is the person you want to receive the file. Once selected, their name will appear beneath a circle at the top of the screen.
    • You can sent to multiple recipients by tapping additional names.

    It’s at the top-right corner of the screen. The photo or video will be delivered to the selected contact(s).
