An anti-virus software is a great tool for protecting your computer and removing potential and actual threats to your workplace integrity. Most anti-virus softwares have similar-looking interfaces, as well as easily accessed tools, so most of them will look exactly alike in the user interface side of things. Scanning your computer for viruses may take awhile, but doing it will ease your worries and secure your files.

Removing Threats

  1. How.com.vn English: Step 1 Check for false detection.
Once your software has finished the scan, it will let you decide what to do with the threats. Look through the list it provides you, and see if it falsely detected a program that you know for sure is not a virus.
    • False detection can sometimes occur with programs that do processes that normal programs don’t normally do. It is called a false positive when this occurs.
  2. How.com.vn English: Step 2 Add the false detection to the exceptions.
Right-click the false positives and choose to add it to the anti-virus exceptions from the options.
  3. How.com.vn English: Step 3 Delete real threats.
Now that the false positives have been added as exceptions, you can now choose to either delete the rest of the threats or move them to a virus vault.
    • In the virus vault, the threats are isolated, and will not be able to access your computer’s files so they cannot do any harm.
  4. 4
Restart your computer. This is to finalize the threat removal.

I believe my computer has a proxy virus. The only things I installed were Steam and Discord. After a Windows 10 update, I couldn't change my proxy settings anymore. Is there a fix for this?

It's likely that this is not a virus, but a bug that was caused by the update. Try to see if you can undo the update. If you can't, then you may have to Reset Windows.
