   Open iMovie. It's the purple star-shaped app with a camera in the center. It's located in your Mac's Applications folder.

   • You can download iMovie from the Mac App Store if you haven't already.

   Select the video resolution. Click the drop-down menu next to "Resolution" to select the pixel quality of the video. Lower resolution videos won't be capable of high-quality images, but they will take up less hard drive space on your Mac. Select one of the following:

   • 540p for 540 pixel resolution.

   • 1080p for 1080 high definition pixel resolution.

   Select the quality. Use the drop-down menu next to "Quality" to select the audio quality. Higher quality will sound better but will make the video file a larger. Select one of the following:

   • Low for low quality audio.
   • Medium for medium quality audio.
   • High for high quality audio.

   • Custom gives you a slider bar that you can use to select your own audio quality.

   Select a compression. Click the drop-down menu next to "Compress" to select the compression quality. "Faster" will give you a lower quality video but won't take as long to prepare. "Better Quality" will take longer to prepare but will create a larger file.

    Type a filename. Click the box labeled "Save As" and type a new filename. The title of the project will be used as the default file name.

    • By default, the filename will be the title of your iMovie project.

    Select a folder for the file. Click the drop-down menu labeled "Where:" to select a folder that the file will be saved to. For example, if you wanted to save the video to your Desktop, you would select "Desktop" in the drop-down menu.

    Click Save. It's the blue button in the bottom-right corner of the pop-up window. The video file will be rendered according to the settings you specified.
