What can I do if my Windows screen is frozen?

Try to shut down the computer by holding the power button. Then, reopen the computer like normal, open Microsoft Word, and open your document from the panel on the left side of the window. It should include documents that were not properly saved. Then, go through the save process as normal. If Word does not open, go to the Windows menu and search for "disk cleanup." It will show a loading bar which means it is looking for junk. Click "clean up files" and wait for it to load. This should fix the issue.

How do I stop Windows from saving multiple copies of a document?

    Community Answer
When you go to save a document, see if Windows is attaching a number to the file name (e.g. 'File (3)') If so, that means you're creating a copy of an existing file. In that case, just rename the file with a completely new file name.

      • Do not give your document a name that already is taken. A message will pop up asking if you would like to replace the file, or save in a different location.
