How to Recover Data After a Factory Reset on Samsung Galaxy

Using Samsung Backup and Restore

This has a gear-shaped icon and can be accessed from the apps drawer.
This is listed near the bottom of the menu when you open the Settings app. Tap on it to open the menu for managing backup.
This will open the menu for backup options for your Samsung Galaxy.
You’ll be directed to a menu where you can select what data you want backed up on your phone.

Select the data you want backed up. If you’d prefer to have everything on your phone backed up, simply tap the Select all bubble to have everything chosen for backup.

Tap BACK UP. This will start the process of uploading your data to your Samsung Cloud account for retrieval. The backup process will take some time to complete.
- In the settings for Samsung Backup and Restore, you can set it to automatically backup your data at regular intervals by going into Settings > Cloud and accounts > Samsung Cloud > ⁝ > Settings > Auto backup settings.
Once you’re finished backing up your data, navigate back to the main Backup and restore menu and select this option below the Back up data option.
If you want all the data you’ve backed up to be restored, then just tap the Select all bubble.

Select RESTORE. This will start the process of transferring any data saved to your Samsung Cloud account onto your Samsung Galaxy.
- This restore process does take a while to complete, so make sure to keep the dialog for this process open so that all your data is restored.
- It should be emphasized that this option only works if you’ve already backed up data to your Samsung Cloud account before opening the Restore option.

Using EaseUS Android Data Recovery

Open your computer’s web browser and go to EaseUS’s website. You'll need to install and run this program on your computer, since there aren't any data recovery programs for Android that can be downloaded and run on a mobile device.
- EaseUS Android Data Recovery doesn’t always help with recovering data from a factory reset Android device, so it’s recommended you try using the free trial version of the software first to see if it can help with your problem.
This will download and install the free version of EaseUS Data Recovery Wizard onto your computer.
Simply click on the program’s icon (light blue icon with a white box and plus sign in it) to open it on your desktop and have it ready to scan your Samsung Galaxy.

Enable USB debugging on your Samsung Galaxy. Since you’ll need to connect your Galaxy to your computer via USB to have EaseUS Data Recovery Wizard scan your Galaxy for files and re-upload them onto your computer through the USB connection.
- Open the Settings app.
- Scroll down and select About phone.
- Tap Software information.
- Scroll down and tap Build number 7 times.
- Enable Developer Options.
- Navigate back to the Settings menu and select Developer options.
- Scroll down and toggle USB debugging to On

Once your phone is connected, EaseUS should automatically start scanning your device for data.
Once the scan is complete, you should see a screen displaying different files that can be recovered. A blue checkmark will appear by any files you select for recovery.
This appears in the bottom-right corner of the menu when you see files pulled up from the scan and will restore your lost items.

Select a location for your recovered files. Once you’ve recovered your data, save any files to a secure location on your computer and transfer them to your phone via USB after they’ve been saved.
