Steps
Quoting from a Website
- Open Safari on your iPhone or iPad. It’s the compass icon that’s usually at the bottom of the home screen.
- Navigate to the website you want to quote. You’ll be able to quote text from nearly any website.
- Tap and hold the first word in the quote. The selected word now has two “handles” (blue lines with dots at their bottoms) on either end.
- Drag the handles to highlight the entire quote. Drag the first handle upward or to the left, and the bottom downward or toward the right.
- Tap Copy. It’s in the black pop-up menu that appeared.
- Tap Facebook. This brings you to a screen that allows you to create a new Facebook post.
- Type a " (quotation mark) into the new post.
- Tap and hold the space after the ". A list of options will appear.
- Tap Paste. The copied quote now appears in the post.
- Type another " (quotation mark). This ensures that the quote is in proper quotation format.
- Tap Post. It’s at the top-right corner of the screen. This posts your quote along with a link to the original source.Advertisement

- Open your ebook reader. You can quote text from most readers, including Amazon’s Kindle app (referenced in this method). The steps should be similar in other readers.
- Open the book with the text you want to quote.
