Steps
Open the Roblox website or mobile app. If you are using a PC or Mac, go to https://www.roblox.com/ in a web browser. If you are using a mobile device, open the Roblox mobile app.- If you are not logged in automatically, click or tap Log In. Sign in with the username and password associated with your Roblox account.
Start a new Roblox game. Click Home on a PC, or tap the icon that resembles a house on the mobile app. Click or tap a game you want to play, and then click or tap the green Play button to start playing Roblox.Advertisement
Open the chat. The chat appears in the upper-left corner by default. If you don't see the chat, click or tap the icon that resembles a speech bubble in the upper-left corner to display the chat.
Click the username you want to private message. If you see the user you want to message in the public chat, click their username. This will display "[To Username]" in the chat.- Alternatively, you can type /w followed by the username you want to message in the chat. Make sure you add a space between "/w" and the username.
Type your message. After you click or tap and username or type "/w" in the chat, add a space afterward, and then type the message you want to send.[1]

View the user's profile. Once you find the user you want to message, click their username to view their profile on PC or Mac. If you are using the mobile app, tap their username and then scroll down and tap View full profile.
Click or tap Message or Chat. If you are friends with the person you want to message, click or tap Chat in their banner profile at the top. If you are not friends with the person you want to message, click or tap Message.- If the "Message" button is greyed out and unclickable, the user may have their privacy settings set to not allow private messages. Alternatively, you may have your own privacy settings set to not allow users to message you. You can't send a private message if you don't allow private messages on your own account.[2]
Write your message and send it. Enter your message in the space at the bottom of the chat window. Then press Enter or tap the Send button to send your message.
