How to Open a Bottle Without a Bottle Opener

If you ever find yourself without a bottle opener, there are many alternative ways to get the bottle cap off. If you’re around the house, you can use different tools and utensils to pry the cap off. Pry open the bottle with the edge of a spoon. Hold the bottle by the neck with your non-dominant hand so there’s about 1 inch (2.5 cm) between the top of your hand and the cap. Place the bottle in a tennis shoe and hit it against a wall if you don’t have tools. Put the bottle into the shoe and hold it tightly against the insole. Hit the heel of the shoe against a hard surface, such as a wall or countertop, to work the cork out from the bottle’s neck. I find it really easy to open bottles with an eyelash curler. Open the curler, put the bottle inside the opening on each side, and just gently wiggle the curler to pop the cap off.
Never ever try to force a bottle cap open by hand if it's not a twist off. You're just going to end up cutting your hand open.
