How to Move Music to the SD Card on Android

This How.com.vn teaches you how to move music files from your Android's internal storage to an SD card.

Using the Android File Manager

  1. How.com.vn English: Step 1 Open your Android’s file manager.
    The name of this app varies by default, but it’s usually called something like File Manager or File Browser. You should find it in your app drawer.
    • If you have a Samsung Galaxy, see this method.
    • If you don’t have a file manager on your Android, see Access Files on Android.
  2. How.com.vn English: Step 2 Tap the folder that contains your music files.
    You may have to tap Internal Storage before you can browse folders. Your music is likely stored in a folder called Music or Audio.
    • If you downloaded your music files with a specific app, the downloaded files may appear in a folder with that app’s name.

    This selects the file. Now that one file is selected, you can tap additional files to include in your move.

    All selected files will be highlighted and/or display check marks.

    It’s at the top-right corner of the screen. A drop-down menu will appear.

Using My Files on a Samsung Galaxy

  1. How.com.vn English: Step 1 Open your Galaxy’s app drawer.
    If you’re using a Galaxy 7 or earlier, tap the Apps button at the bottom of the home screen. On a Galaxy 8, swipe up from the bottom of the home screen.

    This displays a list of files on your Android.
  3. How.com.vn English: Step 3 Tap Audio.
    This displays a list of music files on your phone or tablet.
  4. How.com.vn English: Step 4 Tap ⁝.
    It’s at the top-right corner of the screen.
  5. How.com.vn English: Step 5 Tap Edit.
  6. How.com.vn English: Step 6 Tap each file you want to move.
    A check mark will appear next to each selected file.[1]

    A list of locations will appear.

    This will be the new location for the selected files.

    The files will now move from your internal storage to the SD card.

    You may have to see if you music app has permission to look at your storage and external (outside) storage. It also may be under the name SD CARD.

    Use a USB cable which you use for charging. Or, use "Firefox SEND" service, upload it and open the link in your smartphone.

    Download ASUS file manager and then go to the folder where your files are that you want to move. Mark them and then tap right corner and tap "move to", then put them where you want them to go.
