How to Measure Flour

Measuring flour might seem like a simple task, but most people are doing it wrong. A cup of white flour weighs four and a quarter ounces. If you pack flour tightly, or even scoop it straight from the bag, you end up with a very different weight than what you get if you measure it correctly: by spooning it from the flour container into your measuring device, then leveling off the top with a straight edge. Measuring Unsifted Flour
