This How.com.vn teaches you how to manage a Facebook page. Properly maintaining a Facebook business page requires regular engagement; luckily, Facebook gives you plenty of tools to help you manage your Facebook page(s) efficiently.

Part 1 of 6:

Accessing Your Facebook Pages

   Open Facebook. Go to https://www.facebook.com/ in your computer's web browser. This will open your Facebook page if you're logged in.

   • If you aren't logged into your Facebook account, enter your email address and password in the upper-right side of the page, then click Log In.

   . It's in the upper-right corner above your Facebook page. This will display a drop-down menu that will allow you to access your pages.

   Click Manage Pages. This is in the drop-down menu. Doing so will display a list of all the pages that you are allowed to manage.

   • You will also see a quick list with a few of the pages you manage at the top of the drop-down menu.

   Select a page. Click the name of the page you want to manage. This will take you to the page, from which point you can begin managing it as needed.

Posting on a Page

   Click the "Write a post…" text box. It's near the top of the page. This will highlight the area and allow you to write a post.

   Write a post. The text portion of a Facebook post is called the "copy". Copy for Facebook business pages should only be a few lines, at most. The tone should be casual, not formal; try to be friendly and enthusiastic.

   • You can also view specific post types (e.g., a poll or a job listing) if you like by clicking the ⋯ icon below the "Write a post..." text box.

   Add an image to your post if needed. While optional, images tend to brighten up posts and make them more engaging. To add a photo, click Photo/Video below the "Write a post..." text box, click Upload Photos/Video, and then select a photo (or video) from your computer.

   Click Share Now. It's the blue button below the text box. This will publish the post to your Facebook page immediately.

   • On some pages, you'll instead click Publish at the bottom of the post.
   • To get the most out of a post, you should post frequently, but not excessively. Posting excessively can get flagged as spam.
   • Try to post during peak hours (between 6 pm and 11pm) to get the most engagement.

   Schedule a post. To queue up a post for a day/time in the future, do the following after writing your post:

   • Click the Share Now button below the "News Feed" heading (not the blue button at the bottom of the post).
     • If you have a Publish button at the bottom of the post, you'll instead click the downward-facing arrow to the right of Publish.
   • Click Schedule in the drop-down menu.
   • Select a date and time.
   • Click Schedule.

Viewing and Replying to Messages

   Click Inbox. It's next to the Pages tab at the top of the page, below the Facebook search bar. This is where you check the messages that have been sent to you.

   • You may have to click Get Started when prompted if this is your first time opening the inbox.

   Click a conversation. Conversations will be listed in the sidebar to the left. New conversations and conversations with new messages will be in bold.

   • If you have a lot of conversations, you can use the search bar above the conversation list to search for a conversation.

   Click the "Write a reply" text box. It's at the bottom of the conversation you are viewing.

   Enter a reply. Type in whatever you want to use as your reply, then press ↵ Enter. Your message will be sent.

   • You cannot send messages to people from your business page; you can only reply to people who message you first.

   Switch between different inboxes. You have separate inboxes for your page's Messenger, Facebook notifications, and Instagram notifications; you can switch between them by clicking the Messenger, Facebook, or Instagram logo in the upper-left side of the page, respectively.

   • The Facebook tab will display comments, replies, and reviews people leave on your page, while the Instagram tab will display comments left on your Instagram posts.
   • If you haven't linked your Instagram account to your Facebook account, you won't see messages from Instagram in the Instagram tab.

   Disable messaging if necessary. If you don't want people to be able to send messages to your page, do the following:

   • Click Settings in the upper-right corner of the page.
   • Click General on the left side of the Settings page.
   • Click Messages.
   • Uncheck the "Allow people to contact my Page privately by showing the Message button" box.
   • Click Save Changes.

Viewing Notifications and Insights

   Click Notifications. It's at the top of the page, just right of the Inbox tab.

   • You can filter your notifications by clicking "Likes", "Comments", and "Shares", in the sidebar to the left.

   Review your notifications. Scroll through the list of notifications for your page.

   Select a notification to view it. Clicking a notification will open the notification in context; for example, if the notification is for a comment on a post, selecting the notification will open the post and take you to the comment in question.

   Click the Insights tab. It's at the top of the page. This tab displays a variety of options that can help track your page's activity and its overall performance.

   Review your Facebook page's statistics. Select a category, then review the information on the page. By doing this, you can use the Insights information to gauge which of your posting habits are working and which ones need tweaking.

Changing Page Settings

   Click Settings. It's at the top of the page on the right side, below the Facebook notification icon.

   Select a Settings category. On the left side of the page, click one of the following categories:

   • General — Covers most of your page's basic settings, such as age restrictions.
   • Messaging — Houses settings related to your page's inbox and messaging.
   • Edit Page — Allows you to change attributes of your page's layout and appearance.
   • Post Attribution — Lets you determine whether you post as your page or as your primary Facebook account by default.
   • Notifications — Allows you to tweak settings which determine the types of activity that result in notifications, as well as which platforms you'll receive notifications on.
   • Messenger Platform — Lets you change what your page looks like on Messenger.
   • Videos — Includes settings related to your page's current videos.
   • Page Roles — Allows you to assign specific roles to different page administrators.
   • People and Other Pages — Displays a list of people and other pages who like your page.
   • Authorizations — Allows you to link your Facebook Ads account to your page.
   • Branded Content — Houses settings related to branded posts and whether or not they can tag your page.
   • Instagram — Includes settings related to your Instagram account, as well as an option to link your Instagram account to your page if you haven't yet done so.
   • Featured — Shows a list of pages you've liked as your page.
   • Crossposting — Lets you add another page to a list of pages on which you can post the content that you post on your normal page.

   Select a sub-category. Each category of settings contains a list of options that you can change; depending on your selected category, these options will vary. Click the option that you want to change in the middle of the page.

   Select new settings as needed. Again, this will vary depending on the settings category you selected.

   Save your settings. If prompted, click Save or Save Changes. Your page should update to display your preferred settings.

   • Not all options will require you to save your progress.

Managing a Facebook Page on Mobile

   Open Facebook. Tap the Facebook app icon, which resembles a white "f" on a dark-blue background. This will open the News Feed for your signed-in account.

   • If you aren't signed into Facebook, enter your email address and/or password when prompted.

   Open your page. Tap ☰ in either the bottom-right corner of the screen or the top-right corner of the screen, tap Pages in the menu that appears, and then tap your page's name.

   • The Pages option is to the right of an orange flag.

   Create a post. Near the top of the page, tap either Publish (iPhone) or Post (Android), then type in whatever you want to post and tap either Share or NEXT in the top-right corner of the screen. You can then select a publishing option and tap either Share Now or SHARE.

   • If you want to add a photo to your post, tap Photo/Video below the post, then select a photo (or video) from your smartphone's camera roll.

   Schedule a post for later. After writing a post and tapping either Share or NEXT, you can schedule the post for a different day and/or time by doing the following:

   • Tap Now to the right of the "Share" heading (on Android, tap Post Now at the top of the menu).
   • Tap Schedule.
   • Select a date and time.
   • Tap Done (iPhone) or SET DATE (Android).

   View your page's notifications. Tap the Activity tab at the top of the screen (just below the search bar), then tap Notifications in the resulting menu. You can view a list of your page's notifications here.

   • Tapping a notification will open the notification in context. For example, if the notification is for a post, tapping it will open the post.

   View your page's messages. If you want to see your page's messages, tap the "Back" button to exit the "Notifications" page, then tap the Messages option in the menu.

   • You can get to the Messages option from your page by tapping Activity at the top of the screen and then tapping Messages there.

   Change your page's Settings. To view your page's settings, make sure you're on the Page tab of the page, tap Edit Page below the cover photo, and tap Settings in the resulting menu. You can then select a section, select a setting, and change the setting as needed.

   • The most frequently used section of the Settings menu is the General section.
