You can create a makeshift creating nook. If you have a chair in your room or a corner you can utilize, then you can use that area. Get a basket with all the things that make it feel cozy; pillows, a reading light, floor pillows, etc., and have them ready for when you want to transform that space into a reading nook. Then, you can put it all back in the basket when you are finished.

You can use the small chair or you can use pillows and cushions. You could even use the pillows from your bed to temporarily put on the floor when you want to use it as a reading nook.

If I put my nook in a closet, should I close the door?

It depends whether you have sufficient light or if you are claustrophobic. As long as you have some light in there (at least a torch or reading lamp) and you feel comfortable being enclosed in that space, then it's fine.

Comfortable chairs and nightstands can be purchased very cheaply from Goodwill or another used goods store. Large, oversized chairs are very nice for reading purposes. You usually can buy cheap oversized pillows at the same sorts of places.
