Collecting quotes is a great hobby. Naturally you'll want to store them someplace, so why not a book? It's a great way to preserve memories and very fun to browse through.

to record your quotes in. You can buy a nice journal from a store (lined pages are nice) or glitz up a composition book. Whatever works for you.
  2. How.com.vn English: Step 2 Find some quotes.
It's probably not the best idea to search for quotes on the internet and write down everyone you see. Not all will be the best quality, so be selective. You can discover quotes by watching movies, reading books, going through a friend's quote book, or using a daily quote feature online. You'll find that a lot of your favorites come to you unexpectedly though.

  • Question
Assuming that I have tons of quotes (with the authors' names) AND I intend to sell it as a quote book, do I still have to get permission from EVERY author?
    How.com.vn English: Community Answer
    Community Answer
If you intend to sell the book, that's a really dicey area. If the work is in the public domain (there are various criteria, but generally anything published before 1923 is public domain) you do not need permission. Otherwise, you'll have to look into "fair use" laws, but most likely you will need to get permission from every author you intend to quote.
  • Question
Do I have to worry about copyright issues when making a quote book?
    How.com.vn English: Community Answer
    Community Answer
No, as long as you are not selling the book and you've correctly attributed the originators of the quotes.

      Tips

      • You can make your quote book public or private. But make sure to draw the line. Ask yourself, if you intend to share it with others, whether you want everyone who's browsing through to read it.
      • Try to avoid putting in quotes, that one year later, you know will make you cringe.
      • Listen to songs. If there is a lyric that you like, you can write that down too.
