This cake will be like a normal cake, not sticky when served, as it is baked.

  1. How.com.vn English: Step 1 Line a baking or cookie sheet with parchment paper or a silicone sheet.
    Preheat the oven to 350ºF/180ºC.
  2. How.com.vn English: Step 2 Grate or puree the carrots until they are of a fine consistency.
    Transfer to one bowl.[2]
    • If pureeing the carrots, cut into diced pieces before adding to the food processor.
  3. How.com.vn English: Step 3 Add the flour, sugar and oats to the other mixing bowl.
    Mix well.
  4. How.com.vn English: Step 4 Add the mixed dry ingredients to the grated or pureed carrots.

  5. How.com.vn English: Step 5 Add the quarter cup of water to the mixture.

Shape the dough in a mound or cake shape, using your hands.[3]
  7. How.com.vn English: Step 7 Place in the preheated oven to bake.
Bake for about 20 minutes, or until it is a golden brown color. It should not feel wet, and it will be firm and slightly soft inside.
  8. How.com.vn English: Step 8 Remove from the oven.
Allow to cool on a wire baking rack.
  9. How.com.vn English: Step 9 Stick some carrots in the middle of it as candles for the horse.
It's now ready to serve––be sure to sing Happy Birthday to your horse.
    • The cake must only be served in slices; do not feed the horse the cake in its entirety.

      Tips

      • Make sure to give your horse a little at a time. Feed your horse about half, then put the remainder in your refrigerator until you are going to use it again. Both cakes can also be frozen but remember to wrap well in plastic and foil, add to an airtight container and label and date it.
      • The grain cake can be very sticky; you may wish to add more grains to improve the texture.

      Warnings

      • Always wash your hands before baking because you don't want your horse to get sick.
      • Be careful that the horse doesn't eat a lot of sweets or it will get very ill. Sugar should be reserved as a rare treat, not a daily one.[4]
