Ingredients
- 1/4 cup of extra virgin olive oil
- 1 tablespoon of extra virgin coconut oil
- 1 teaspoon of beeswax (be sure that it is food grade beeswax)
- 1/4 teaspoon of Vitamin E (about 2 capsules)
- 2 -5 drops of lavender essential oil (optional)
Steps
- In a small saucepan, mix together the olive oil, coconut oil, and the beeswax and heat it on low, stirring occasionally. Do this until everything is melted.
- Poke a hole in the vitamin E and squeeze it in as well as the lavender oil.Advertisement
- Decide whether or not you want it whipped. It works well, either way. It really comes down to what texture do you prefer.
- After it cools off (it needs to be solid), put it in a bowl. Using a hand or electric mixer, whip it and until it has become fluffy.
- Try using a tallish plastic cup and one beater of your mixer, if you can.
- Apply the cream at night before you go to bed.Advertisement
Community Q&A
- QuestionWhat is the shelf life of this cream? Do I need to put any preservatives in?Katherine ChiangCommunity AnswerYou shouldn't need to put any preservatives in this cream. It should last 6 months to 1 year, as the ingredients in this cream don't expire very fast. As long as odor, color, or texture does not change, your cream should be fine. If shelf life is a big concern, make smaller quantities of cream at a time that you can use up faster.
- QuestionWhere do I apply this cream?Community AnswerOn your face.
- QuestionCan I use petroleum jelly instead of beeswax?Community AnswerPetroleum jelly is a bi-product of petroleum and should never be used on your skin. It also clogs pores.
Tips
- Lavender has calming and healing properties.[1]Thanks
- The more of your products that you use that are organic, the better. Thanks
- Store it at room temperature. If it does melt, just put it back in the refrigerator for a few minutes to solidify. This process does not affect the cream and its effectiveness at all. Thanks
