This How.com.vn teaches you how to create a password lock for your Google Chrome browser on a Windows or Mac computer. When locked, Google Chrome will require your Google account password in order to use your account. Keep in mind that you cannot lock the Google Chrome mobile app in this way.
Steps
- Click your name tab. It's a small tab in the upper-right side of the browser window.
- Click Manage people. This option is at the bottom of the drop-down menu. A new window will open.
- Click ADD PERSON. It's in the bottom-right corner of the window.
- Enter a name. Type a name for the new account into the text field near the top of the window.
- Enable supervision of the account. Click the checkbox to the left of "Supervise this person to control and view the websites they visit from your Google Account" near the bottom of your window.
- You can uncheck the "Create a desktop shortcut for this user" box.
- Click the "Select an account" drop-down box. It's at the bottom of the window. A drop-down menu will appear.
- Select your Google account. Click the email address that's associated with the account you use to log into Chrome.
- Click SAVE. It's a blue button in the bottom-right corner of the window. This will create the secondary profile.
- It may take upward of a minute for the profile to be created.
- Click OK, GOT IT. This grey button is at the bottom of the window. Do not click SWITCH TO [NAME] here, as you don't want to use the supervised account.
- Click your name tab again. It's in the top-right side of the window. The drop-down menu will appear.
- Click Exit and childlock. You'll see this at the bottom of the drop-down menu. Doing so locks Chrome with a password and closes the Chrome window.
- You can sign back into Chrome by opening Chrome, selecting your account, and entering your Google account password.
