How to Know when a Dog Is Done Giving Birth

Dogs rarely need human help to give birth. Despite this, you should still recognize when a dog has stopped whelping so that you can care for the dog and puppies. A dog in labor will experience contractions and restlessness. A dog that has finished whelping will be calm and attentive to her newborn pups. Sometimes, however, dogs take breaks during whelping.
