The mystery of Bella Goth's disappearance in The Sims 2 was never solved, but the mystery of how to re-add her to Pleasantview was. However, most of the methods involve using cheats or third-party programs such as SimPE, and if you're trying to play cheat-free or don't have access to these programs, you may be frustrated or stuck. While returning Bella to her family without cheats requires a cleaned-up version of Pleasantview, you can also move her in with a family in Strangetown to live out her life there.

Using Clean Game Templates
While it requires some game alteration, it's the only way to truly get Bella back without cheats or third-party applications.
Download and install the clean Pleasantview template. A cleaned-up version of Pleasantview (as well as other neighborhoods) is located atmeetme2theriver.livejournal.com/63030.html, which makes Bella Goth wander the streets as a townie in addition to fixing errors in the neighborhood. To install it, put the folder labeledN001into Documents > EA Games > The Sims 2 > Neighborhoods. Allow this new N001 folder to overwrite the preexisting one (if you hadn't already deleted it).- If you're playing the Ultimate Collection, the directory is Documents > EA Games > The Sims 2 Ultimate Collection > Neighborhoods.
- If you're playing the Super Collection on a Mac, the directory is Library > Containers > com.aspyr.thesims2.appstore > Data > Library > Application Support > Aspyr > The Sims 2 > Neighborhoods. Keep watch on the townies who walk by. Every day, townies will walk by the lot that you're playing. While it's not guaranteed, chances are you'll eventually see Bella walk past, at which point you can send a Sim out to greet her.- Alternatively, send your Sim to community lots and see if they run into her on the lot.
Have your Sim build a relationship with Bella. The relationship can be friendly or romantic, but you'll generally want your Sim's daily and lifetime relationships with Bella to be as high as possible.
Move Bella into the household. If she isn't on the lot, invite her over using the phone. Click on her, find Propose..., and click Move In.- If your Sim's relationship is high enough with Bella, she will accept and be added to your family.

Moving Her Into Strangetown
Do not plan to move the Strangetown Bella into Pleasantview. Because of the way The Sims 2 is coded, moving the Strangetown Bella into Pleasantview will end up corrupting both neighborhoods and may make them buggy or even completely unplayable. The only safe way of "moving" Bella to Pleasantview or the Goths to Strangetown is to create identical Sims in Create-a-Sim in the respective town.- The reason for this is because Bella's character files are linked to other characters in the neighborhood, even if you haven't seen her interact with anyone. If you move her from Strangetown to Pleasantview, the Sims in Strangetown who had any tokens or memories involving her will now have incomplete character files listed, and Bella, having tokens and memories with Strangetown Sims, will bring along incomplete character files from Strangetown into Pleasantview. The incomplete character files can then be gossiped about or even have a new Sim attached to them, which causes the neighborhoods to become further corrupt.
Enter a family in Strangetown.
Watch the townies that walk by. It may take awhile, but chances are that Bella will walk by your Sim's house.- Alternatively, go to a community lot and see if you can find her there.
Have your Sim build a relationship with Bella. It can be friendly or romantic, but make sure their relationship is very high - try getting Lifetime Relationship at 50 or higher, and Daily Relationship at 85 or above.
Move Bella into the household. Click on Bella, select Propose..., and click Move In.- If your Sim's relationship with Bella is high enough, she will accept and be added to your family.
