Using Voice Commands
Say "Alexa". Say the wake command to wake Alexa and she will begin listening for your next command.- The default wake command is "Alexa," but if you've changed it to "Echo," "Amazon," or some other command, then use the wake command you previously set.
Ask Alexa to stop an action. To interrupt or stop any ongoing action, say "Alexa, stop." If an Alexa skill is causing Alexa to perform a long or disruptive action, telling Alexa to stop should usually end it.- In most cases this won't exit the Alexa skill.
Ask Alexa to quit the skill. Say "Alexa, cancel," or "Alexa, quit," to exit the current Alexa skill.
Ignore the skill. If you don't give Alexa any commands and ignore the skill for a certain time, it will quit on its own. This should normally take less than a minute.- This is best when the room is relatively silent. If there is noise, the microphones may send loud noises to the skill, mistaking it for voice commands.
Start another Alexa skill. Try stopping the skill by invoking another Alexa skill or command. For example, you could say "Alexa, how's the weather?" to force Alexa to switch skills.
Ask Alexa to disable the skill. Say "Alexa, disable [skill name]" if you want to remove the skill entirely This will remove the skill from your account. For example, "Alexa, disable Amazon Storytime," will remove the Amazon Storytime skill from your account. If you want to use it again you'll have to enable the skill first.- You cannot disable basic default Alexa skills, like creating timers or the weather forecast ability.

Disabling Skills on the Alexa App
Open the Alexa app. On your Android or iOS phone, open the mobile Alexa app and sign in to your Amazon account. It's the light-blue app with a white outline of a speech bubble.- Make sure you are signed in to the same Amazon account that you registered your Alexa device with.
Tap ☰. It's in the top-left corner. This opens a pop-out menu on the left side of the screen.
Tap Skills. It's near the bottom of the menu in the third section of options.
Tap Your Skills. It's in the top-right corner.
