Electabuzz evolves into Electivire when it’s traded while holding the Electirizer item—but since Nintendo has discontinued online services for the DS and 3DS, it’s only possible to organically get this Pokémon in the Nintendo Switch Pokémon titles. Read on to learn exactly where to find the Electirizer item in titles like Sword, Shield, Brilliant Diamond, Shining Pearl, Legends: Arceus, Scarlet, and Violet, so you can add this electrifying Pokémon to your roster.

Electabuzz Evolution: Explained

Give your Electabuzz an Electirizer and trade it with a friend to evolve it to Electivire, then trade back. In Scarlet/Violet, get an Electirizer in The Indigo Disk DLC by searching the Canyon Biome, finding 130 Pokémon in the Blueberry Pokédex, or purchasing it for 250 BP in the Blueberry Academy School Store.

How to Evolve Electabuzz to Electivire

  1. How.com.vn English: Step 1 Find an Electirizer and give it to your Electabuzz.
Electabuzz needs this item to evolve into Electivire. The location of the Electrizer depends on the game, though you cannot find an Electirizer in Generation III or earlier. Once you acquire the item, give it to your Electabuzz so it’s currently holding it.[1]
    • Electivire was first introduced in the Pokémon Diamond and Pokémon Pearl games (Gen IV), which is why you can’t get it in the earlier games.
  2. How.com.vn English: Step 2 Trade your Electabuzz so it evolves into Electivire.
Ask a friend with a game from the same franchise as you to trade Pokémon with you. Upon trading, the Electabuzz will evolve into an Electivire. Once the trade and evolution are complete, ask your friend to trade the Electivire back to you.[2] Just note that the Electirizer will disappear after Electabuzz evolves.

Finding an Electirizer

Download Article
  1. How.com.vn English: Step 1 Scarlet, Violet & The Indigo Disk DLC
In the Scarlet and Violet franchise, the Electirizer (along with the Elekid evolutionary line) can only be found if you have The Indigo Disk DLC for the games. It can be located in spots like the Canyon Biome, or you can receive one by finding getting 130 Pokédex entries in the Blueberry Pokédex. It can also be bought for 250 BP at the Blueberry Academy school store, or made using the Item Printer.[3]
  2. How.com.vn English: Step 2 Legends: Arceus
In Legends: Arceus, the Electirizer can be found in Jubilife Village by visiting either the Trading Post (for 1,400 MP) or Ginter’s Specials (for 5,000 currency).[4] Keep in mind that Ginter will list the Electirizer as the “Electricity Box” rather than its proper name.[5]
  3. How.com.vn English: Step 3 Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl
In Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, the only way to get an Electirizer is by catching an Elekid who is holding the item already. Elekid can be tracked down in spots like the Stargleam Cavern, though it can only be caught in the Brilliant Diamond title—if you have Shining Pearl, you’ll need to trade with someone who has the opposite game.[6]
    • Improve your chances of finding an Elekid with an Electirizer by using a Pokémon that has the Super Luck power (like Murkrow, Honchkrow, Absol, Togepi, Togetic, or Togekiss), which boosts your chances of finding a Pokémon with a held item.[7]
    • You only have a 1 in 20 base chance of finding an Elekid with Electirizer, so be patient![8]
  4. How.com.vn English: Step 4 Sword, Shield & The Crown Tundra DLC
If you have The Crown Tundra DLC for Sword and Shield, you can find an Electirizer in the Giant’s Bed area within the game.[9] You can also purchase it from the Watt Trader on Snowslide Slope for 4,980 W.[10]
    • You have a slim chance of catching an Elekid, Electabuzz, or Electivire already holding this item, too.
  5. How.com.vn English: Step 5 DS & 3DS Games
Unfortunately, it’s no longer possible to get Electivire in Pokémon DS or 3DS games, including Diamond, Pearl, Platinum, HeartGold, SoulSilver, Black/Black 2, White/White2, X, Y, Sun/Ultra Sun, or Moon/Ultra Moon. In April 2024, Nintendo officially closed down the online services for the 3DS and Wii U, which makes Pokémon trades impossible.[11] The Wi-Fi Connection feature for the regular DS was originally shut down in May 2014.[12]
    • Exception: As of May 2024, Nintendo still supports the Pokémon Bank storage software for the 3DS. The Pokémon stored in this software can then be transferred to Pokémon Home, the current storage software for the Nintendo Switch. Theoretically, if you had an Electabuzz from an older game, you could transfer it to a more recent game using these features.
    • Nintendo has noted that online support for Pokémon Bank could be discontinued in the future, so it’s best to complete these transfers sooner rather than later.[13]

Elekid Evolutionary Line

Download Article
  1. How.com.vn English: Step 1 Elekid evolves into Electabuzz at level 30.
The first Pokémon in Electabuzz’s evolutionary line is Elekid, which is an Electric-Type Pokémon. It typically starts with attacks like Leer and Quick Attack at level 1, and learns Thunder Shock at level 4. Once it hits level 30, it’ll automatically evolve into Electabuzz.[14]
    • Like all Electric-Type Pokémon, Elekid is super weak to Ground-Type attacks.
  2. How.com.vn English: Step 2 Electabuzz evolves into Electivire through trading.
Electabuzz doesn’t need to hit a certain level to evolve—it just needs to be holding the Electirizer item while being traded to another player. After the trade, the Electabuzz will automatically evolve.[15]
    • Electabuzz and Electivire are also Electric-Type Pokémon.
