This How.com.vn teaches you how to edit the hosts file on your Android phone or tablet. You must have rooted your Android to edit the hosts file.
Steps
- Install ES File Explorer. If you don’t already have this app installed on your Android, you can get it free from the Play Store.
- You must have a rooted Android to edit the hosts file.
- Open ES File Explorer. It’s the blue and white folder icon with an “es” at its lower-right corner.Advertisement
- Tap ≡. It’s at the top-left corner of the app.
- Tap Internal Storage. This opens a list of files and folders on your Android.
- Navigate to the root directory. To do this, swipe to the right on the top navigation bar until you see the “/” symbol.
- Tap /. It’s near the top-left corner of the screen below the “≡” icon.
- Scroll down and tap the system folder.
- Tap the etc folder.
- Scroll down and tap hosts. It’s one of the gray icons with a “?” inside. The “Open as” dialog will appear.
- You can search for this file by typing “hosts” into the search bar at the top of the screen.
- Tap Text. A list of apps will appear.
- Tap ES Note Editor. This opens the hosts file.
- Tap Edit. It’s at at the top of the screen. You can now make changes to the file.
- Make changes to the hosts file. Add or remove hosts as necessary.
- Tap Save. It’s near the top-right corner of the screen. If prompted to grant permission, tap ALLOW.
