Downloading the Office Install File
Open the Microsoft Office website in your internet browser. Type www.office.com into the address bar, and hit ↵ Enter or ⏎ Return on your keyboard.
Click the Sign in button. You can find this button in the middle of the page or in the upper-right corner.
Sign in with the account associated with your Office product. Depending on how you got Office, this could be your personal Microsoft account, or your school or work account.
Download the Office installation file to your computer. Depending on whether you're using a personal Microsoft account or your work/school account, you could see one of the two different buttons here.- If you're signed in with a Microsoft account, click the Install Office button on the top-right, and select Install.
- If you're signed in with your school/work account, click Install Office apps on the top-right, and select Office 2016.
- Although it says Office 2016 for school/work accounts, this button will install the most up-to-date version of the Office apps as set by your Office 365 admin.

Installing Office
Find and open the Office installer file on your computer. You can find it as Microsoft Office installer.pkg (the name may slightly vary) in your Downloads folder.
Click Continue in the installer window. This will take you to the license agreement.
Click Agree. This will indicate you agree to the terms of the software license agreement.
Click Continue until you see the Customize option. Depending on your Office version, you may find this button on one of the "Installation Type" or "Destination Select" pages.
Click the Customize option. This will allow you to uncheck all the other Office apps you don't want to install, and only install Excel.
Uncheck all the other apps you don't want. If you only want to install Excel, make sure all the other options here are left unchecked.
Click the Install button. This will start your installation.- If you're prompted, enter your Mac's username and password to authorize installation.
Click Close. You will see a green checkmark when your installation is successful and finished. Click the Close button to quit the installer. You can now open and use Excel on your Mac.Advertisement
