How to Do a T Test in Excel on PC or Mac

This How.com.vn teaches you how to perform a T-Test in Microsoft Excel to compare the averages of two sets of data.

Steps

  1. How.com.vn English: Step 1 Open your workbook in Microsoft Excel.
    Double-click the file on your computer to open it now.
    • To create a new workbook, open Microsoft Excel (in the Start menu in Windows, or the Applications folder in macOS), then click Blank workbook.

    This is where you’ll enter the formula data.

    • Click the down-arrow next to the “Array2” box to minimize the window.
    • Click-and-drag your mouse cursor over the first range of data.
    • Press Enter or Return. The range now appears in the minimized window.
    • Click the arrow next to the “Array2” box to expand the window again.
  9. How.com.vn English: Step 9 Enter the Tails value.
    This specifies the number of distribution tails. Type 1 if it’s a one-tailed distribution, type 2 if it’s two-tailed.
  10. How.com.vn English: Step 10 Enter the Type.
    This is the type of T-Test to perform. Enter 1, 2, or 3 here as necessary.[1]
    • 1: Paired
    • 2: Two-sampled equal variance
    • 3: Two-samped unequal variance

    This runs the T-Test and displays the results in the selected cell.
