This How.com.vn teaches you how to create a new public or private channel in the Slack app for Android.
Steps
- Open Slack. It's the blue, orange, pink, and green icon with an “S” inside. You'll usually find it on the home screen or in the app drawer.
- Swipe from left to right. This opens the team's channel list.
- Tap + next to “Channels.” This opens the Browse Channels screen.
- Tap the + in a circle. It's at the bottom-right corner of the screen.
- Choose whether to make your channel public. The channel is public by default. To make it private, move the “Public” slider to the Off (gray) position.
- If you make the channel private, nobody will be able to access it unless you invite them.
- Type a name for the channel. It should go into the “Channel name” field. Channel names can be up to 22 characters long.[1]
- Type a description of the channel. This is optional, but can help others understand why the channel exists. This description goes into the “Purpose” field under “Optional.”
- Tap Create. The channel is now added to your Slack team.
- To invite someone to the channel, open the channel, tap its name at the top of the screen, then tap Add Someone. Select a user from the list, then tap Done to send an invitation.[2]
